Clone wars is my primary method for leveling up in Disgaea. It has been since about 100ish hours into the game. These 5 segments detail how to set up clone wars to not only make it as fast and efficient as possible, but also explains how to set up clone wars and other things. First, you'll need your own argus at level 9999. This is a definite must. Do not give the argus any magic whatsoever, even healing and support magic. Avoid using the special skills as well as much as you can - the less you use them, the better and easier it will be for others to level up as they won't do as much damage. With your own argus, you can have clone wars anywhere at any time, even in a place you wouldn't have expected such as frozen river or even the tutorial level. The second segment covers how to optimize the geo panels. In the event you do get the right pyramids, it's time to make the most out of them. First, clean out every single enemy in the area, except for one. Gate guards and enemies on islands are good choices - they don't move (except a knight, cleric, mage, or skull, of which will get annoying with their endless casts of shield, braveheart, etc. - get rid of those unless it's alone where it'll simply stay put). In other areas, such as frozen river, you'll need to either learn how the enemies behave or keep your distance. Move the pyramids around so that good ones (clone and exp) are not on geo panels and bad ones get destroyed to change colors. Do not destroy the null - keep it. Even if it's dangerous like enemy boost x3 or damage 20%, keep it. Keeping the clone count in check is essential. You don't want to run out of clones unless you want to end the process to save (such as after hitting max level or you get bored of it). Keep away from the spare enemy as well. If you have to get near it, use someone powerful enough to take any damage but also, most importantly, someone who can't counter. If you defeat the enemy, you'll clear the stage and you'll have to go back to part 1. Why change colors? The more geo panels of the color for clone there is, the greater the chance is for a clone to appear after each turn. If only one color is present, color changing is not necessary, but use the other pyramids to your advantage, such as obstacles or more flexibility in the reaccumulation and battle areas. For this, and an extra speed boost find a spot in a corner (for 2 or more pyramids, the null is included) where, upon changing the colors, you'll still be safe (i.e. not on clone) but also surrounded by geo panels on the color you'll be having the pyramids on, surrounded by pyramids. This way, the enemy will do nothing and by quickly ending your turn until no more clones appear, you can speed up the process considerably. You'll reach 29 clones in about 2 1/4 minutes with 1 clone pyramid from just 1. You must have a hyperdrive in order to get surrounded by pyramids. Otherwise, you'll need to trap one of the clones by pyramids so it's always on clone (but don't have the clone have a hyper drive - have it have accelerators, angel's sandels, etc., all not leveled up or minimally leveled up (it'll only be harder if they are leveled up to the full) and regular items only (not rares or legends). The greater the movement, the faster the process will be... to a point. The reason is that it reduces the chances of time-wasting team attacks. With 1 clone pyramid, you'll need to find a corner. With 2 clone pyramids, a corner or an edge will work. With 3, an edge or out in the open will work, though a dedicated magic user will be better in this case. With 4 or more, you're better off using a dedicated magic user or extensively using special skills or for someone with a high countering ability like the ninja or majin class. If exp+ pyramids are present, you must completely surround yourself by geo panels of that color (at least as much as absolutely possible - use the null pyramid if you have to), otherwise you can be anywhere you want but keep out of attacking range of the pyramids - you don't want to accidentally bust them. Once you've figured this out, you're set for part 3 of this process.
where can you fight an argus to create it?

The item world is the only way that I'm aware of. High rank items or floor 41 and above for mid rank items (I think it's rank 31 and above though I'm unsure on this)) is what you'll need. The flaming dragons and other top-tier monster enemies only become available on floor 41 and above of high rank items.

Have you played Cave of Ordeals yet? At those low levels, Cave of Ordeals 3 should work for you quite well rather than clone wars.

That's the only disadvantage with clone wars - the better the pyramid setup you request/require, the longer and less likely it'll take to appear. Early on, even just the appearance of the clone pyramid is good enough. Later on, however, I usually don't bother with clone wars until I have 3 such pyramids present.
