STUART RYAN - Ottawa Centre
Stuart, 59, is a single father sharing parenting of his two young sons. He works for a CUPE local at Carleton University, and is a CAW member.Living in Ottawa Centre since arriving at Carleton in 1979 to take a Journalism degree, Stuart is President of his CAW local and a delegate to the Ottawa District Labour Council. Active in NOWAR-PAIX, Stuart helped organize to stop the Security and Prosperity Partnership. He sings in the social justice / environmental choir, Just Voices, and takes karate lessons earning his black belt in 2005.
Stuart says building a quality accessible education system in Ontario is the key issue this election. "School boards are still suffering from the cuts of the Harris Tories' funding formula, despite the Liberals' promise to fix the system. Post-secondary education remains unaffordable for working-class families, with students averaging $25,000 debts upon graduation."
