Interesting. Around 1980 or so, I purchased four tickets to see them and the Kingston Trio at the Copacabana in Manhattan. I took my grandfather and two buddies with whom I'd formed a folk trio. We got to the club - it was closed. Lights out. No notice on the front door or anything. I double-checked the date on the tickets to be sure. Nobody was there. I got a refund from Ticketmaster, but to this day I have no idea what happened.
This was on an album about 1973. In the intro, Lou notes that the tune is "Acres of Clams," and that, in the industry, a "clam" is a record that doesn't sell. He comments "There were no acres . . .there may have been some SQUARE FOOTAGE . . !"
My mom and dad saw them in San Francisco at the "Hungry i" back in the 1960's while on their honeymoon. They were great and thus I have a number of their records!
So, did Fidel Castro play base for the Limelighters?

If the comment about Glenn being a "fifty-year-old rock star" is accurate, the performance is from 1980. Glenn was born in January of 1930.

A naturally written song with wit and insight, much like Lou's monologue over the years. Thanks for capturing them for us in their golden years.
