Has your overhead console (temperature and compass) disappeared? Mine dimmed out and I was determined to fix it on my own.
Instead of paying $130 at the local Ford dealership, I did it for free!
You will need a slot and Phillips screwdriver, a T-10 screwdriver, and a soldering iron with some solder.
Est. time: 45 minutes.
Enjoy!
Edit: Pictures from some Ford forums can be found here: http://www.f150online.com/forums/articles-how-tos/400196-overhead-console-tem...
Thanks! Mine quit and for some reason I really miss it. I'll be trying this soon.

This quick fix had my problem solved in 15 minutes. 2002 F150 SuperCrew. I've had the truck for almost a year and it has bothered me since day one. Glad I found this video. Excellent instructions.

I rode around with my console display out for 3 years because the Ford dealership said I needed a new unit that would cost me about $400. Thanks to your post I've fixed my console in less than 30 minutes. Great post. Thanks!
