Hey McKay that was a great demo- and excellent performance! Thanks for all of the knowledge sharing as well- have never heard of Puremagnetik before will have to check that out- would you mind sharing what you were using for the sounds @ 1:58-2:30, a Puremagnetik sound? Are you controlling pitch with a pedal- similar to pitch bend wheel on a keyboard? I might have missed this- what pedals are you using as well? Thanks again man! Keep creating!

What are the row of triggers above the drumkat?

Thanks, bralwin :-) The sounds in those sections may be stock synths I'm playing in Live. I can't remember. Probably so, though for this quick demo. I believe the Puremagnetik sounds were in the beginning. The big synth may be a PM synth though. For pitch bend, my right foot switches to a CV pedal (EV-5 by Boss/Roland) and my left foot is controlling sustain of notes/chords. Hope that helps!

Those are DIY triggers I made out of PVC caps from the hardware store and piezos from Radio Shack. I use them for turning fx on and off or for triggering loops in Live.

hey man, how is one of these different to a sampling pad e.g roland spd-s?
crazydan121 1 year ago
@crazydan121 Many ways. The drumkat is a MIDI controller only, no internal sounds or sampling. The unit uses FSR sensors instead of piezo so you can hold your stick or hand down on a pad and it will continue to send a sustained note like a keyboard. You can also record MIDI phrases (called motifs) and trigger them back at will.
