Music Today Sucks

Since making this video I created a website dedicated to terrible music. http://www.earbleed.com Guess you can say I moved from making little youtube videos to helping others annoy their workmates with the worst music one can find on the Internet. Yeah, I've grown as a person over the years. The response I've gotten from it is all pretty much the same: "Man, I want to fucking kill you! Great website!"

@trueboss926 Aah, you didn't miss much. Jazz and Fusion turned into adult complementary and New-Age, metal started wearing makeup and vocoder was all the rage. The only thing good to come from the 80's were bands like the Talking Heads, The Sugarcubes, Tom Tom Club and a few others. Hip-Hop was great back then and metal did eventually turn pretty awesome. Beyond that, the 80's was a complete wash.

@masterohumans I have a friend who's big into that stuff. Not quite my cup of tea. The best band I've found in many years is Mastodon.

today's music hardly has any soul or meaning to it. im 16 and ive been listening to the beatles, elvis, and many other great bands my whole life and i also agree with you saying about power chords. 90% or rock songs always have the same eminor chord with distortion repeating over and over. wtf happened to the arpegios or licks back in the days?

I've pretty much given up on modern music. I don't even pay attention anymore; there's no point.

I've started moving backwards. Picked up some old records like the Ohio Players, Earth Wind and Fire, War, etc. I'm on bit of a Tom Waits kick right now and that's the newest stuff I listen to these days.

I had a thought the other day. By today's standards, bands like Nickelback and Coldplay are ranked as being the more talented groups. It was a pretty depressing thought.

@jasonmit hey dude i agree on it. i listen to some nickelback and coldplay and im glad thats stil being played on the radio even though 1 of the few good things however its rlly a shame whats happening with the music. Music hasnt become an art anymore its becoming more like a trend they even put out the crappiest dance music ever on the radio

Im so happy underground music is still thriving well and is still full of creativity and originality. The metal scene, punk scene, folk scene, underground rock, jazz, blues, and classical music is still going well. It is just too bad the only musicians getting attention are the "cash grabs," little music groups or "artists" that remain popular for a small amount of time and then completely forgotten. Talking to people about this is useless, the mainstream just cantsee the pattern for some reason
