That's because Hank Sr. is dead. The Opry has performance requirements. It's not a "hall of fame."

George Strait and Willie Nelson are also non-members because they forthrightly acknowledge they can't or won't make a commitment to a minimum number of performances. When Rucker was actually inducted two weeks after the above invitation, Vince Gill told him the membership wouldn't mean anything to him if he didn't perform there, and that THAT--coming there--is what the Opry asked of him. Rucker has expressed and displayed the willingness to fulfill such a commitment. And so, he is a member.

(Cont) ect) However I believe Darius does have some of that "staying power, Just Like he did as Hootie... I believe the market is the Best Indicator of "what country is" not just some disgruntled, opinionated chap... Now I'll Go Join the rest Of the Country Music Buying fanbase, who actually determines "what country music is" and continue listening to Brad Paisley, Blake shelton, Dierks Bentley, annnnnnddd.......... Ooo this will Piss you off... Colt Ford! lol

(Cont) "Country Music Genre"... When I first Heard him on Country radio a few years Back his voice stood out to me for whatever reason, and to many others in the "country Fanbase" His songs move said fanbase. His story spoke to me on the same level some of the past greats have. To me That would define him as a Country music artist. Now there are other artist I will agree with you, that don't have the same Kind of staying power as greats of the past had (Hank Sr, Hank Jr, Johnny Cash, Waylon ect

Define "country" ..... Hank sr? Music changes and adapts to the times, it always has and always will, even country. Darius is one of the Best voices (notice ONE OF so don't start an argument about such and such artist) Heres the Thing, His albums are being marketed in the Country Music Genre, Country fans, are buying those records. His songs are Stories put to music (unlike Modern shit talking about teen angst) His Music is arranged in a way that it easily fits into the modern

I have nothing against Darrius Rucker, and I admit that he is talented. But country he's not! A lot of the artists on the Opry now are not country. Country pop would be the genre most of them should be included in. Because the young folks think he's cool doesn't qualify him to be on the Opry!!!

He can't be because he's dead, and you need to be able to perform. However he is in the country music hall of fame.

A lot of both. You definitely need talent, but you also need to be willing to commit. And all his songs sound the same? That's pretty normal for country music. Ever heard any of Hank Williams' songs? What about Willie Nelson? Or Johnny Cash? I quite like his songs, and think he deserved it. It's a big honor.
