Recorded January 18, 1991 at Babylon A Go-Go in Cleveland Ohio, JIM CARROLL talks about basketball in New York City during his playing days. This interview was conducted for my local access cable show EYE SEE MUSIC.
@PixelPwner actually let me re-write about mickey, the movie mix's two of the books charactor's,the actual Mickey from early in the book, who some of the films scene's are based on,and than the later in the book charactor who wasn't named mickey, but the movie sort've splice's them into 2 charactor's i think.
@MilitantMovieBuff you have the read the book, because the film is narrowly based on it,in a sort of Fast Summary, the book is a lot different and an actual Diary with both poetry, adventure's,his drug use, where he live's/moves to,and his friend's/associate's, I believe Mickey was more or less based on one of the charator's, i dont think he and pedro actually met in the book hahah, but yah,the book is a real good one, first book i cared to finish start to end when i was 13 year's old.
@waters129 Yeah, the movie was really made in the mid nineties as an anti heroin grunge\chic propoganda film. I hated the movie, it came out when trainspotting also came out. They were supposed to make it in the 80s with Eric Stoltz (closest actor that looks like him). Wish they did.
You know that movie does not even come close to everything jim went through! and everything he saw in New York. In reality he went through a whole lot more!! the Leonardo di cabrio movie kind of glamorises the whole thing a bit!!!
Jim was awesome !! Love his writting. I wish i got to hang with him , i could just sit and listen to him rapp all day long he was so interesting. Great clip. R.I.P jim carroll

@dc82194 I agree, I miss the hippie-style in the movie, and the 4-friends-solution is not so good, Jim did have about 100 good friends in ny
