This is almost as appealing visually , as it is aurally !

I do remember one thing....

no other 'fast drummer' uses space as well as bruford. someone like neil peart would have been trying to fill every second of this piece with notes, seemingly in an attempt to impress the audience. bruford? he may play a part simply if the song calls for it, regardless of whether or not the audience is "wowwed". of course he will then slash through the simplicity with a monsterous flourish. and that's why he' so interesting

Could you imagine the list of serious musicians in his cell phone contacts!

One thing is certain. Bill Bruford is Bill Bruford. His style is his own and no one else. Lucky us we live in a time where we can have the experience to see and hear what real talent looks and sounds like.

BILL BRUFORD ROCKS LIKE FEW OTHER PEOPLE DO. He does a thing that is both original and is executed with great deal of technical and creative ability.

@Milestonzz I agree but blind idol worship of the past is just as bad. Bruford looks up to the classics as you do, but there is a new generation that NEEDS idols, this is how we grow. Bill is already part of the past but he is, with Peart, one of the most important progressive drummers that rock has ever known. Like all things in music and art, seek out what calls to you then find out what called to them, then create the new.
A toast to all my fellow music devotes!
I've been listening to Bruford for 30+ yrs and agree that he is indeed among the greatest of all drummers. But to proclaim that he is unsurpassed... well, have you ever so much as listened to Elvin Jones, Tony Williams or Max Roach? I met Bill many years ago and he told me that those 3 in particular were the greatest, most innovative and influential of all drummers. He regularly covers Roach's "The Drum Also Waltzes". Its okay to have favorites but blind idol worship is a terrible thing!

The guy in the audience who said "oh ho!" definitely knew what was coming!
