ABC Sydney News Stuff Up - 6th May 2009

Auto Cue just didn't work well. This is Australia's Government Broadcaster at it's worst. Budget cuts in the Production Department has been widely reported, mainly via ABCs Media Watch program.

...continued: earlier this year, ABC Victoria's entire 7pm news bulletin was cancelled and we got Sydney's bulletin. that has nothing to do with budget cuts. part of the technology that powers the whole operation just died and they couldn't get it back up in time. one day out of hundreds does not mean anything. this is just a blooper, plain and simple.

first of all, it's not the Government's broadcaster. it's Australia's national or public broadcaster, which ever word you choose to use. it's funded by the Australian taxpayer.

secondly, screw-ups like these can happen to any broadcasting organisation. technology never works 100% of the time. occasionally things go wrong. continued....
