Queensland Rail's Electric Multiple Units were predominantly constructed in the 80's during the electrification of Brisbane's rail network. They have stood the test of time, and have many years of lifespan remaining in QR's capable hands.
These particular units, 52 and 59 at Wacol Station, are as yet 'Un-Bandicooted', which means they have not been refurbished yet in the current overhaul program, and are not Disability Discrimination Act compliant yet.
The EMU have a very distinctive whine, which is also apparent in the derivative Transperth A Series in Western Australia.
