Actually, I think reading Barrie Wilsons rendition of how false Christianity has become, is a eye opener. The Dead Sea Scrolls, and the Works of Flavius Josephus will seal the deal for Christianity. How James was purportedly left out of the bible. We are talking about Jesus's brother James. Second in command. Is only mentioned twice in the whole bible should raise a eyebrow to any christian. The bible was a religion created by a man who never met Jesus at all, or followed his teachings. Paul.

@diagoras54 There is a huge difference in the genres: philosophy vs cosmology, physics etc that the faulty B\ble asserts. Documents as in texts that espuce only thought is only a way of thinking; however, when a prposed science is stated it can be dealt with in an empirical manner. This is where Dawkins, Hitches, Harris have shown the fault. So your analogy doesn't work on the validity of documents.

thanks , you are making me smarter

I've been nursing numbers for months as it's way too boring, every bit was at least partially enjoyable until the very first verse of numbers, but I'm almost done.

Thank you for the work you're doing.

@diagoras54 I liked your video by the way. :)

@Pinage I can't disagree with that.

@diagoras54 I didn't mean that we should dismiss it out of hand. I meant that we should treat it with more scepticism than with other documents with less extraordinary claims, as you would no doubt agree.
Whether or not Socrates, Plato or Aristotle actually lived is ultimately irrelevant. It is what they said (as people or characters) that is important.

@Pinage That's why I added the caveat "within reason and taken with a grain of salt", and explained that I don't accept miracles or prophecies. 95% of what we know from history is based on documents, and if we're to outright dismiss the Bible as being a fabrication we have to do the same with Socrates, Plato, Aristotle and the Enlightenment, among countless other examples.
I've never read the Bible since it's incredibly boring and I have the attention span of a Mexican gnat, but I'll definitely watch this series.

Your Brain On Religion:
Deut. 23: 1
No man whose testicles have been crushed or whose organ has been cut off may become a member of the assembly of God.
Exodus 21: 7
When a man sells his daughter into slavery, she is not to go free as male slaves may.
