Only makes the sound when the car is cold. You can hear it very well at 0:44 and 1:10, when the clutch is half engaged.

    Still have the problem. They are replacing the entire clutch assembly under a warranty claim.

    did you ever figure this out? my wrx is making the same noise and I want to know if I need to replace the throwout or input shaft bearing

    lol.. TAKE IT TO THE DEALER.  They changed something inside of the transmission to make it more "tough" and apparently it makes this sound now.. take it in!

    It isn't an issue! Let the car get to operating temperature. I have had this on my 2010 wrx for 20k miles and just hit 65k my car has been stage 2 from 5000 miles on. Still have a stock clutch! Its all how you drive it

    this is normal at a cold start up. the sound goes away right after it warms up a little bit.

    i just ended up trading in my wrx for a acura a few days ago its not as fast as the wrx but it seems like a whole lot better car for your money and more reliable i have found subaru to be highly over priced for what u get very dissapointed in subaru

    It was the throwout bearing in my case. Fairly easy replacement just a pain in the ass to drop the transmission without a proper car lift. I don't take my car to the dealer except for alignments.
