@khsfrst the only type of ants that do this are army ants. they are blind. they follow the scent of the ant in front of them. sometimes, things happen and the they lose that scent track, therefore generating these awesome circles. since they're in an infinite loop and can't back to their colony, they die of exhaustion. essentially, they are committing suicide in this video. hope that helps!

Yeah it's a death spiral. The leader ant loses its way...usually from the colony I think, so they circle until they are exhausted and die.
