@makemap Article 9 is fairly controversial in Japan, a strict reading says they are not even allowed to have a military. They caught hell for deploying men outside the country after the US was attacked on 9/11 from the people who wanted it enforced. Polls i've seen have 40% of Japanese people wanting it revised, up 20% from nearly 15 years ago.

@WVAK47 That's a good question! Let me explain. The Allies disarmed Japan because they saw all Japanese--at the time--to be fanatics. This notion was brought on by the Allies experiences in the Pacific theater. Often battles ended with the killing of every Japanese soldier on the island--and civilians too sometimes--because they would not surrender. Then there was the Kamikaze--which the Allies saw as the most appalling act of fanaticism.

I think (not sure) it's because majority of japanese population is against the revision of art 9 of their constitution who regulate the state of military service and admits japan to have only a self defence force who is prohibited to interfeare in international conflits.
Some membersofthe parlementtried to change this article but they meet many oppositions.
They did some missions in Irak, but it was only humanitarian work or aprovisionement work for other national armies.

@EagleStrike119 Aren't they not allowed to have a huge army since WW2?

@WVAK47 the scary part is if they were attacked then Japan couldn't defend itself properly and it's possible that American forces could be outnumbered as well,

If Germany can have a big army and not menace the world safety , why not Japan? Better a large conventional Japanese military than another nation getting WMDs. AS an aside, I'd marry one of the women soldiers.
