I completely agree.
I think the same is true of Pakistan; we wanted Musharraf out, yet look what's happened to Pakistan without military rule.
I want to see a democratic and peaceful Pakistan and Iraq, yet I think the only way it will happen is through natural internal processes, without external interference.

There is actually logic to the idea that the Baath Party was the only real force keeping Iraq together over the past several decades. Now the American military has assumed the same role and it is a role that it cannot sustain.
