This is "Maryland, My Maryland" not "Michigan, My Michigan." Originally, both state anthems used the tune "O Tannebaum" (in English, "O Christmas Tree"); but a new, original tune was written for "Michigan, My Michigan" when the original lyrics, written in the 19th century, were revised in 1907.

In 1937, however, the State of Michigan made the song "My Michigan" the official anthem - but nobody ever sings that song; they all sing "Michigan, My Michigan" - but to the 1907 tune, *not* this one.
