@longtang1234 Right. Because, with psychotic and schizophrenic patients, they're already surrounded by beings and voices that do not treat them with respect. If you want to stand out among all those voices, be the one voice who is a friend, who treats that person with respect and just listens. Don't just be another hostile entity poking at them and forcing things on them they don't want.

@abilify10mg That's the thing. I see so many of you guys who they just dope up, and (having PTSD and psychosis from sexual abuse, myself) I think "Good, lord, just listen to them. They need someone to talk to. Even if some of it sounds crazy, it's still a manifestation of something that any person's mind can do." I have a schizophrenic friend, and that's what I do. I'm not a therapist- I'm just a friend. But I LISTEN to him. Just let him talk and tell me what he's going through.

There is lots of ongoing research around concerning psychotherapy use with psychosis-since early 1990s they have considered use of CBT, and family therapy use has been investigated since 1970s. (only came across this video because I'm doing an essay on the topic-but there is a lot of information about-obviously lots of conflicting information, but then that's the nature of psychology! :)

The mark of a good psychologist is one who gets truly involved with the patient. A psychologist for whom the best reward is not monetary but patient wellness. Show me a psychologist who is in it mostly for the money and I'll show you a lousy psychologist.
its just you
