808's was dope, he's only saying it sucked because he doesn't respect autotune.(And on the best song on the album Coldest Winter, he didn't use autotune) Which is understandable, but it wasn't bad. It had well written songs on it.

Art is art and ALL artists need to grow and develop. That said, people need to stop labeling an artist and just accept his or her full body of creative work. Some albums will be great and others will flop. That's true for ALL artists. I agree with some of what phonte was saying, BUT if you look at the album from the perspective that auto tune is an emotionless/cold/numb effect on singing then you can see that kanye was trying to get accross this feeling of sadness from losing his mother and gf
