*nods* Now that I've actually seen the series (about 8 or 9 times over....GOD but it rules!), I feel rather silly for that comment back then.

Core and the entire EI-01 Zondar form is the product of the Primevals and not a product of Zondar Metal.
Therefore, it would be faster to destroy the core than to extract-then-purify as purification would end in destroying it anyway.
That, and the scene would be more awesome as seen.

My thoughts exactly. Why couldn't Volfogg do as he allways did, and just snatch the core before it was destroyed? He's done it at least twice before.
