What the First Amendment actually says is, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." The words, "Freedom of Religion" don't appear either, but what's a little misquotation between friends?

It doesn't actually say "separation of church and state" in the constitution. It says "freedom of religion" which is not always the same.
