Father Christmas is a 1991 animated short based on two books written by Raymond Briggs: Father Christmas and Father Christmas Goes on Holiday, published in 1973 and 1975 respectively. It was first aired in Britain in 1991 on Channel 4, nine years after The Snowman, another animated Briggs adaptation produced for the same channel.

  • haha, this Santa isn't all that jolly...

  • This show had some balls, unlike todays programmes alll got to be politicaly correct. I love this, just watch and have a laugh with it.

  • Watched this for the first time tonight, fucking hated it. They made Santa a "Little Englander": Skeptical of foreigners, a grumpy workshy gambler and boozer. Interesting to try something different, but poorly done. He's so annoying.

I'll stick with the wonderful "The Snowman" - fantastic stuff for Christmas time

  • There weren't enough black or asian snowmen...

  • the song at the end is so cute!

  • after watching this it bought back a tone of memories, i first watched this when i was about 1 year old and i only remember some clips of it, now that i watch it at my age now like i said it brings back a load of great memories. thanks for uploading this

  • just replace "bloomin" with "fuckin" every time he says it

  • @CensoredSmiffy

I find it quite vulgar too. If they can't wait for December, they could at least have the good taste to give Hallowe'en the breathing room it deserves.

  • The last time I saw this film was on VHS tape back in the early 1990's. I still remember most of it though. Feels odd to think 20 years have passed since then.

  • @mandolaman12

i think they made a new version because the one i used to watch there were no bloomings :( and the socks tie and presents for him came from his elves . :) it was still amazing and i love both versions.
