Coal companies have abused my people- my father and grand father for over 140 years. The coal corrupt polticians let the coal companies do what they want here in West Virginia and KY. The coal thugs get by with murder and they are poisoning and blasting entire communities now. We mountaineers won't have anything left to give our kids when the coal company destroys our state and our home. What will we tell our grand children- better yet- what will we tell God?

My grandfather was in a coal mining accident. The year was 1926 ...he was born in 1911...he was 15. He lost his right eye. The mine paid his hospital bill and nothing more. He was the son of Italian immigrants. All this happened in Logan WV. I would sit with him in his tiny room and listen to the short wave and listen to the Italian news station while he sipped on red wine. This is how he would remember the language he learned from his parents.

wow, that is a great story. My great-grandparents were Italian Immigrants too and came to Gary,WV where my great-grandfather mined coal. I didn't realize they were able to get the Italian News station on radio there. That's very neat.
