This song is such a perfect example of so many relationships where a situation prevents two lovers from being together. And when it finally starts to become amazing it suddenly fizzles due to fear (like a river running dry when the sun's too bright) a lot of people think this song is a funeral/departure song...to me it's more about romantic love.

this song is amazing:) its amazing how people can act. one moment they're there and then the next moment your not. "like a stranger passing by" some people move on while other wait dormant for "the" person to come but sometimes you just have to say"so long, goodbye"

I totally 100% agree with Iheartthebass. My last relationship was like that due to distance (600 miles) but it was mostly due to fear. I still hear the love in her voice when we talk but cause of past bad relationships she is fearful of the so called "good thing" cause she feels undeserving. I am standing strong though :)
