A game that was unmercifully passed over by the mainstream crowd, Kakuto Chojin is the spirtual successor to the Tobal series(developed by DreamFactory after they split from Square).
While the game does play the same in it's base design, it has a far more gritty and underworldly look to it(much to the chagrin of anime loving Tobal fans) and features a grotesque learning curve that can turn away even the most hardened fighting game vets.
This video showcases MASSIVELY difficult combos, most of which need frame specific input. It was done soley to give insight to how deep the engine is, while providing the viewer/casual player/fan a look into one of the most overlooked fighting games of this decade.
I've also compiled a transcript for those that wish to attempt any combo in this video and it is located here:

  • Does anyone know the name of the techno song being played during?

    Thanks

  • This is just the Kakuto Chojin opening theme. All I did was some small edits to make it last long enough for the video itself.

  • Most fighting games are like this actually. Combos in any fighter can be lethal if done correctly, but the reason the combos in THIS game look so bad is due to how little people understand about the engine and how it works.

Keep in mind that almost everything in this video is extremely difficult to do and requires frame knowledge of each characters' individual moveset(along with hours of practice). These are not combos that can be performed by your average player, not even in the slightest.

  • this game is not any or near better than tobal

  • Not counting the lack of an anime heavy theme, this game plays eerily similar to Tobal; and adds a larger scale movement system AND a better juggle engine.

Granted, the extras are nowhere near as good - but the core gameplay the fighting is based on is just as good if not more sound than Tobal's.

  • @VendettaAS i agree in a way, i think if fighting games are going to incorporate a juggling system into their game. then they should at least have a balanced scaling system, as well as a combo breaker feature. that's why i enjoy mk9 so much, they use damage scaling appropriately most the time and they also have a proper combo breaker that builds via meter.

kakuto is an underrated game and like he said, these combos are next to impossible to pull off. to bad this was rushed, it's a hidden gem.

  • to "unbreak" juggling, usually air combos are lessened in damage. And it takes skill and precision to keep someone up for the whole round. In the hands of a button masher, they would have to be extremely lucky to do that.

  • Man, this game and Tao Feng were my favorite Xbox fighting games. And I still have them! I'm about to go see if they work on my Xbox 360!!!

  • This is the first time I've ever seen crouching Jab combo someone 7 feet into the air.

    Fucking LOL

  • WHY IS THIS GAME BANNED IN THE USA

  • I used to have this. Badass game. Gamestop didn't have it in their catalog, so I made $10 under the counter.

  • This game has some SERIOUSLY-AMAZING Visuals!!!

  • @mrwhitefolks hey can you upload the video of crusher doing his dance at the end? I always thought...wow that was worth it

  • This is fucking incredible.

  • Oh yeah, this game was painfully bad, I remember playing this ish at Gamestop and going like, "This is some DOA/Killer Instinct knock off.
