Eidem Homestead in Brooklyn Park will celebrate Halloween 1900-style 7-9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30. The family event includes stories, a bonfire, decorations and treats. Adults cost $5 and children age 3-12 cost $3. No pre-registration is required. Information: 763-493-8333 or www.brooklynpark.org/recreation.

Students at Birch Grove Elementary in Brooklyn Park, part of the Osseo School District, were treated to a concert last week by world-renowned musician and composer Bernard Woma. He was accompanied by other musicians and dancers from Ghana. The concert was made possible as part of Birch Grove's partnership with Orchestra Hall.

The St. Louis Park City Council and St. Louis Park School Board recently discussed collaborating on providing an artificial turf field at the high school stadium. In one scenario, the city would purchase the stadium and allow the school district to use the facility. The turf field would be available to community activities in addition to high school games. Both bodies directed their staffs to further study the issue.
