My first symptoms of sjs appeared on christmas day of 2010 and I was in the hospital for 11 days, I didn't eat for 15 days cuz of the sores, and I missed a whole month and a half of school. I got the mycoplasma type of sjs which is where you don't get the rash all over you, I just got the mouth eyes and genital area parts of sjs. Sjs affected my eyes so that the tear ducts scarred over so my tears ALWAYS drain down my face rather go down the tear ducts. I was in the hospital for my 14 birthday

@lilkitten29 What treatment did you receive? My daughter is suffering from recurrent EM.... and I am worried about possible SJS. He blood test indicated the presence of mycoplasma which leads the doctors to believe that her symptoms are not caused by medications either..

Just to clear things up: 1) Never trust lawyers 2) This did not fly under the radar of the FDA 3) the drugs mentioned are invaluable to many 4) SJS is a rare condition, around one case per million people per year. In the US, there are ~300 new diagnoses per year 5) It is an allergic reaction, which can happen with any substance. so stop taking the med, go to ER if you notice anything strange (skin rash) 6) Causes of SJS are relatively unknown, and drugs are just one of a number of suspected caus

I had SJS when I was 10. Thankfully, the month before I got it, a new drug came out called IVIG, and then I was on the road to recovery. When I had it, I couldnt eat anything, it hurt sooo much. Now I do volunteer work for the SJS foundation to help warn people about it.

we dont need to worry about bextra or vioxx anymore; they were taken off the market. but there are also some anti-psychotic medications that can cause this (i.e. lamotrigine).
