  • yeah, he is one of the best bass of the world, bot not the lowest....

    His low d is a dream....

    If you want to hear this aria in a perfect performance with strong low d, just search Kurt Moll or Mihaly Szekely!!!

  • Mozart wrote for four major basses; Francsco Bernucci, Francesco Busani, Franz Gerl, and Karl Ludwig Fischer. Bernucci was the first Figaro, Leporello, and Guglielmo. He sang lots of roles. Busani (the first Commendatore, Alfonso and Bartolo) also got a lot of work. Gerl had a lower voice but still not too low. Fischer the lowest of all of them and the first Osmin had trouble finding appropriate roles. He had to wrIte his own material. Osmin remains hard to cast to this day.

  • Diesem Osmin möchte ich nich in die Fänge geraten. Matti Salminen verkörpert diesen Haremswächter mit beeindruckendem Ausdruck, auch wenn er vielleicht nicht ganz die Tiefe hat.

  • I have two recordings of Matti performing this. This is probably the better of the *three* I've heard of him do - which isn't saying much because he's darn good anyway. Of course, given that this is a concert performance versus full production there's going to be some sound and energy differences.

    LOL I always loved his face expressions.

  • He's an excellent singer, but the tempo of the song needs to be speeded up. This is one of my favorite arias.

  • the triplets in the cadenza section are some of the most clear Ive heard out of other people doing this opera
