Mariska Hargitay/Olivia Benson is the reason why I was able to, finally, talk to someone about the sexual abuse I went through. It took me 13 years but then I began watching SVU and was eventually able to admit to myself that, yes, it did actually happen and that I needed help to heal. She helped me get my life back.
