@kmtb1991 It is said, that truth is the first casualty in war.

@rebel2276 right on man. patriotism is giving support to the country, and the government when it deserves it

@logcabnnut One, I am not from the South, I am "Rebel" to the current United States Government. Until the US. Government admits spraying agent orange in Vietnam caused cancer in thousands of Vietnam Veterans, such as my own father, who never even smoked. I am a "Rebel" against the Government till they admit and pay my fellow Desert Storm soldiers that depleted uranium caused birth defects in their kids when they returned after the war.

@StonewallJackson26 I agree with you, we know what the "Real" reason the war started. I was hoping the current United States Government would come out with the real truth, but that is doubtful. So we will go another 150 years with lies.
Have a good night.

@rebel2276 It really doesn't make sense does it? The War wasn't about Slavery. If the Federals were interested in Freedom and Liberty, why were Natives treated so harshly in the post War years. The Federal Armies in the West killed scores, and destroyed cultures forever, all while using Chinese Slave labor to build railroads over conquered native land. Hypocrisy, hypocrisy, hypocrisy!

Just by the fact your screen name includes "rebel" tells me all I need to know about your level of inbreeding...

@rebel2276 Would those states leave their 4 million slaves behind when they go?

@Shafeone LT. General Scott advised Lincoln, to pull the soldiers from Fort Sumter and to "Let the South go." How do you have a war and force Eleven states to stay in a Union that they do not want to be in? In the past Ten years, Vermont, Texas and Arizona have flirted with leaving the Union. I suppose the National Guard would just lock up any state officials and point M-16's in their faces and force them to stay in the Union.
-
@rebel2276 "No Lincoln no war?" And no country either. Lincoln was just a boy when Jefferson declared slavery "the death knell of the union." So long as the nation was half slave/half free war was inevitable.
@Oldcartoons571 The Irish rebelled in New York City during the "Draft Riots" because they feared recently freed slaves would take their jobs. If a Confederate fought, it was not for defending slavery or so some rich slave owner could keep his slaves. He fought for defending his home and state. I don't know how you convince an army where 96% did not even own a slave to fight a war to keep or preserve slavery.

Now in Lee's defense, Capt Johnston scouted the Peach Orchard, Wheat field, to..LTR? But either way that was the most up-to-date, intelligence that Lee had. Thus if Longstreet had attacked when Lee wanted him to, on the morning on July 2nd. Sickles' 3rd Corps would have been still far to the rear and not in the Peach Orchard, Wheat field, etc. So it is a confusing situation. But my post before this, is the route I would have gone with.
