in the opening credits - there are 2 gold-plated skyscrapers - probably on the Stemmons Freeway (im a usual Houston tourist who has worked photo gigs in Addison since xmas 2011)...

@nixonplumber The two roads are the Houston St. Viaduct (on the left) and Jefferson St. Viaduct (on the right). They're not highways. The viaducts (local terminology for the bridges over the Trinity River) connect downtown Dallas to Oak Cliff, the portion of Dallas just south of the river. Houston St. is one-way traffic out of downtown and Jefferson St. is one-way into downtown. The camera is zooming from SW to NE.

What highway is that at leading to downtown at ):006 in the opening theme?

Friday night was The Dukes of Hazard, Dallas, and Falcon Crest.. tv was good back then!!

ahh the 80s, it was all about the money
how i miss it
Even those of us who grew up and lived in Dallas watched the show but would occasionally roll our eyes at the over-the-top Texas stereotypes like everyone wearing cowboy hats - nobody wore them, especially in downtown Dallas where business attire was (and still is) more Brooks Brothers than western wear. And how/why so many of them lived together in that house, which wasn't very big, was baffling...but it was fun, mindless Friday night entertainment with one heck of a catchy intro tune!

@kt2le2 I was in Dallas last year...and I only saw one cowboy hat (not counting mine). He was at the JFK Dealey sight.

Memories of Friday nights growing up in the 1980's. At 9pm on Friday night, the television was tuned to Channel 2 (CBS then, Fox now) here (Detroit) and we did not dare bother my parents unless it was a commercial or the end credits were rolling! Following that at 10pm was Falcon Crest, same thing, don't bother our parents! For that we (me, my brother and sister) got to stay up until 11pm, that night only! Ahhhh, memories....

@skywheelrider yes! I had these memories too. I watched it with my mom, despite not really understanding. But the theme always stayed in my head!
