Randy Holden: Fruit & Icebergs

Taken from the record Population II (1969 Hobbit Records) , obscure 1960s West Coast, proto-metal guitarist Randy Holden's oozing psychedelic heaviness and scorching feedback freak-outs that predated the Tony Iommi/Black Sabbath sound. Played through sixteen 200 Watt Sunn amps (!!!) ...sweet Jesus. Best known for his guitar playing on the third Blue Cheer LP...although Population II is his grand opus.

@funkenstoffell - I've got the vinyl (remind me and I'll dig it out for ya this Fri when we jam) , but no, didn't take this directly from vinyl myself for the vid. It's sort of an odd two-part song, and Blue Cheer covered it when Holden was their guitarist, but, this, his orig version is superior.

Damn! I never noticed how bad ass Randy was until i looked at his solo stuff!!!

I always thought he kinda sucked for replacing Leigh Stephens of Blue Cheer. But shit on a stick, i was wrong!!! Randy kicks ass!!!
