qtronics1..a nice story, but not exactly the way it happened... this is actually her 1st recording as a solo artist. However, she wanted to record the song "Make it easy on yourself", but Bacharach gave the song to someone else instead. When she walked in & found out "her song" was given away, she got niffed & snapped at them "Don't make me over", & walked out. They loved her fire & decided that they would write a song just for her based on that one phrase.. but I like your version too ;),
I think I may like your story better. LOL Now you got me second guessing if I have it right. I'll have to pull out my CD album, and do a verification. {I'll get back with you on that} I've never seen Dionne in concert. I came close a few times but never made it. I make a point to only play her songs periodically on purpose because I consider her songs like "fine wine" oldies. And you know you don't drink fine wine every day or it's not special.
@qtronics1 I heard "Say a Little Prayer" had similar beginnings. She came into the studio and spoke about a letter she received from a friend serving in Nam.
That's very interesting since we probably all knew some one that had a connection with the {Viet Nam} war. Would like to find out more history on her songs. I'll have to do some digging on Google.
my father said dionne warwick is one of the great singer on 60's - 200000000 and one of the ferformer who got a many grammy award !! and 17 yrs old she started in singing!! " the simply queen"
