a buddy had a 41 pontiac hearse with a straight eight flathead we heated canned food on it on road trips nice v8 ya got here sounds great

In response to dmellow45 who enquired about the flatheads exhaust system. The center cylinders (looking at engine from the front of the car) no's 2&3 and on the opposite side 6&7 exhausted through one exhaust port. All the old flatheads were like this. I have owned quite a few in my years of motoring and I never had one flathead that overheated. Mind you, I should point out that the bulk of my driving back then (as it does now) is on the highway and not idling in heavy traffic.

i dont understand the flathead's exhaust on a v8. does bank 2 go thru the block? if so wouldnt that be a helluva heating/cooling load?
anyone kno a link where i can read a diagram?

I've owned and drove V8 ford flatheads for years and never had one to overheat, as long as it's in good shape. Great Engine, thanks for the video.
