A tutorial on how to paint a chestnut model horse in 10 layers of pastels. This is just how I personally go about painting and not the right or only way to customize.

I am no longer actively painting model horses and don't have plans to make any more videos. I am still open to answering questions and doing my best to help. If you are nice and well-spoken, are able to talk in normal sentences and know how to ASK not DEMAND then send me a message and I'll do my best to help you. Asking questions on things that I address in my tutorials will be ignored.

Supply List:
- Primer or gesso
- Alphacolor earth tone set chalk pastels
- Acrylic Paint
- Clear Nail Polish
- Sandpaper
- Files or nail files

  • I subbed to you! I was wondering, how do you make the white markings? Acrylics? I loved your work so much, today I bought everything to customize model horses! Thus helped me out alot! Hopefully, I will upload a video of my final product!

  • @MoonShineStables I just use white acrylic paint. Sometimes I water it down though to eliminate brush strokes.

  • Wow, very cool, but if horse put in the water, do colors go away?

  • @BreyerFan1000 Nope, as long as its sealed with a spray finish its fine.

  • But how would you make a white marking??

  • @eringailfarms When I'm done pastelling I just used white acrylic paint over the pastels for the markings.
