Hola. In this video lesson we'll cover some words for clothing. Some of these words will vary depending on region, country, and personal preference.

Also, chanclas (as far as I know) is more of a Mexican word. I'm interested to see what others have to say. In Mexican Spanish, other words might be used:
la camiseta = la playera
la chaqueta = la chamarra
los pantalones cortos = el short / los shores

  • Hi why uno/una and not el/la?

  • @nellngun

    un / una = a

    el / la = the

    They're just a little different.

  • using this verb with the sentence "yo llevo una camiseta" does it mean I wear a t-shirt or im wearing a t-shirt?

    P.S your videos are so helpful thanks!!

  • @brozmeister1

    That's a wonderful question... a lot of times in Spanish, the 'present tense' can be used for both "someone/something does" and "someone/something is doing" something.

    In this case, your sentence could mean both of the options you said. I think especially with the verb "llevar" it's common to hear it in the present tense for both meanings.

  • In Argentina and Uruguay we say:

    La sudadera = buzo

    Chaqueta = campera

    Pantalones cortos = short ( we say it in english )

    Calcetines = medias ( incluid for men )

    Los tenis = zapatillas de tenis

    Sandalias = chancletas

    Las chanclas = ojotas

    El traje de baño = Men = maya Woman = bikini

  • ¡Gracias por compartir con nosotros! :-)

  • Also "falda" for "skirt".

  • My teacher has a lot of your videos on her class website and we watch your videos all the time. I often watch your videos on my own time as well. You're very clear and informative. Thank you so much!

  • @agusamadeus la cuestion era decir que no he escuchado a alguien decir "pantalon corto" sin que este se vea precedido por un "me quedo el"

  • El "short" hace referencia a maya de baño o short de baño o deportivo. Pantalon corto suele ser bermuda de vestir o jean corto.

  • @agusamadeus jejeje hasta el día de hoy no conosto ningun pais que diga pantalones corto en vez de shorts :D

  • @liveindablink it is a typo/mistake. It only should be one "a"

  • how come there is two a's for papa?

    la chica lleva

    pepa llevaa

  • in spanish from spain we say vaqueros instead of jeans and zapatillas instead of tenis
