Billabong Girls Get Out There Tour - Herolds Bay - Event 7

The surfer girls were all really excited about the Herolds Bay event, because it has been a while since we have been at a beach that is actually classified as a surf spot. We thought that it might be quite small, considering Vic Bay was flat on the day of the event, but we were pleasantly surprised to be greeted by some sizey, and pretty daunting surf. The girls were out there though, impressing the guys and showing that they werent scared.

As for the event, well it was a huge success. Once again we got lucky with perfect weather, awesome learn to surf waves, and a great vibe from all the beach goers.

8 girls from the George Child Welfare joined us for the day, which was really great. They had so much fun! 4 of the girls learnt to surf and I saw each of them get to their feet at least once. The girls played games, threw the frisbees around, swam, painted, and made a lot of beaded jewellery. There were also 2 lucky girls amongst the group 1 winning a Neutrogena hamper and the other a watch from Nixon. They were such super girls and so much fun to hang out with. We will definitely be inviting them for a day on the beach again at the next Girls Get Out There series.

After the event, Marius gave the girls the embarrassing news that they had to make an appearance at the Miss Herolds Bay Bikini pageant. The girls had to strut their stuff like cattle in a ring for an audience. I must admit, they looked really beautiful, all of them, but they were not too happy with Marius. It seems looking good on the beach must be reserved to just hanging out and not modeling.

We are all feeling a little sad, as we are approaching the last event in Camps Bay, Cape Town. The whole series has gone so fast and we wish it could go on a bit longer. There is always next year though and, while were all feeling a little sad about it ending, we are certainly going to make the last event the best one so far.

So, in the bus and off to Cape Town for the final leg of the Billabong Girls Get Out There series. I really hope Cape Town doesnt get difficultwe all know how temperamental the weather can be!
