This is the highlight video I made of my mechatronics class robot-hockey tournament. These are fully-autonomous robots, the robots are acting by themselves, they are not being controlled by a human. It was a 14 team, double-elimination tournament that our team ended up winning (McIvor Steiner, Brandon Duick, Gokul Ramanan, Neeraj Jhawar). Each team builds 3 fully-autonomous robots from scratch (given an 8MHz microcontroller and wireless chip), each robot constrained to fit in a 15cm cylinder. The robots use phototransistors to track the puck (which is emitting IR light), and are receiving location information wirelessly from a video camera above the rink that tracks each bot (each bot has a unique pattern mounted on its top).
