  • Great! Another thing I wish I had known before creating a first pond was the amount of amps the pumps use. We first used a swimming pool pump, which made our three foot tall waterfall. It was a fantastic display, what we didn't know, is how much this great looking fall would cost us to operate using a pump that was: 14 amps. Cost to run in Ohio for one month: $65.00! The next pump we bought was for a pond of up to 1200 gallons, our pond was 3200 gallons. The pump was not as good, but used 2 amp
