Hey all, my first attempt at running my bedini did not go as planned, I have had no luck what so ever, please take a look and see if there is anything you can suggest to get me back on track., I have gone over my circuit many times, it's acting like the run battery is shorted out drains really fast transistor heats up quickly and the rotor will not spin, Could some of you guys take a look at the Video I've added and see if there is something that I can do?

core material is the "I" plates from a transformer as I was unable to buy metal coat hangers, every where I went only had plastic ones, my coil is 1/2 inch tube, 550 turns, I am using all standard parts tip 3055, 1n4001, 1n4007 100 ohm resistor, 1k pot 110v neon bulb.

Cheers all.

  • great videos, but you need to clean up you work site because stuff lying around with high voltage is dangerous

  • @geraldscott95 Hi Scott my shed is clean ( for a shed), thanks for your concern, when working with HV I always make a tidy space to work in I am more than capable with high voltage work. I like most do let things get a little untidy from time to time but they get cleaned up most of the mess recently has been due the to massive donations of TVs I got given. Also the Bedini has no unsafe HV in it at this stage, when I add a few more coils to it I will have it set up in it's own space.

  • Hi, Do you have the emitter to the base diode (1n4001) connected the right way round, & the wires from the coil ?

If it is connected the right way round then i`m sorry to say but u`ve fried your transistor : (

if at any moment the neon light did flash, then the TIP3055 transistor is toast

Try one of the higher voltage npn transistors in the tv that you were taking apart

I`ve fried so many tip3055 transistors i`ve lost count now lol. I tend to use higher voltage transistors now

  • @benz247 Thanks Benz, I have the diode wired right, it's from the Base of the transistor to the cathode of the didode, the neon has never flashed that I have seen, I swaped out the tranny like you suggested but that did nothing, I tried several of them only 1 managed to move the wheel, also I tested the 3055 it's fine.

  • I havnt had time to play with the bedini circuit myself, but I think the problem comes down to your magnet gap vrs the return feed output (the amount of juice required to keep the window gap to a minimum). A quick suggestion would be to add more magnets reducing your frame window on your rotor. Just some thoughts, and I may be completely off.

  • @bugs181 I had started with 7 magents and slowly reduced it to 4, I had read on TEEP that it could be made with 1 magnet, some speak of a "2 thumb" rule where by the gaps between the magnets should not be any less than "2 thumbs" apart. I am just hoping I do not have to rebuild my coil, which sadly is what I think the problem is :(

  • try reversing the trigger coil connections

  • @TheJsn007 Hi Jsn, The coil is 4.5inches long on 1/2 inch pvc tube with 550 turns of bifilar exactly sure on what the gauge of the wire is but some where between 14-24 gauge wire respectively would be a fair guess.
