  • some of these men, including entstein, were religious people. I wouldn't put free thinkers in the same catagory as agnostics or athiests.

  • I would. And I did. Einstein wasn't a dogmatic theist. You stand corrected.

  • Atheism leaves a man to sense, to philosophy, to natural piety, to laws, to reputation; all of which may be guides to an outward moral virtue, even if religion vanished; but religious superstition dismounts all these and erects an absolute monarchy in the minds of men.........FRANCIS BACON:

  • whats a freethinker

  • uuuh.. Sean Penn is a scientologist last I checked

  • @sirmcgowington Um, I think you've missed something vital: This video is titled "...to all Freethinkers", & addresses "Free Thinkers, Skeptics, Agnostics, & Atheists". These may include people who reject God/organized religion in general, monotheism specifically, or just secularists who believe faith and state must be separate. They need not be Atheists. The subsequent listing states names & occupations only, & is therefore quite accurate. Now what was that about morons making false claims?

  • @reeblite It's one of many quotes from Einstein in a book titled 'The Portable Atheist', compiled by Christopher Hitchens. It contains essays, excerpts, poems, speeches, and quotations about the nature of God, and the virtue of doubting religious claims, from people such as: Lucretius, Hobbes, Spinoza, Hume, Shelley, Marx, Eliot, Darwin, Twain, Conrad, Hardy, Lovecraft, Freud, Orwell, Russell, Sagan, Updike, and many more. It's a great resource for anyone wishing to learn about religious doubt.

  • @sirmcgowington good point made here.

  • @ScienceWinsEveryTime where did you get this from? mind me asking?

  • H P Lovecraft FTW. god's got nothing on Cthulhu

  • You morons and your false claims.

Here's a "good question" for y'all; where do you get off claiming that Abe Lincoln was an atheist and how many others of these folks are false claims as well?

Lincoln was not an atheist. A free thinker? Sure. A non-Christian? Sure.

But would a pure atheist be a good atheist if he were to say, ""this Great Book...is the best gift God has given to man."[251]"?

    I don't think so.

Show me a rich/famous man and I'll show you a man who don't need God

  • What always blows me away about these kinds of videos is how many of these people I have grown up respecting, admiring, and counting as my favorites in their fields without ever knowing their philosophical backgrounds and beliefs. I did quite a few fist-pumps during this video in surprise.

  • @reeblite "It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God & I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it."

    ~ Albert Einstein, personal letter, March 24, 1954 ~
