This is Ludwig my Sacramento SPCA foster puppy. He is 100% deaf and partially blind. This is a quick video of me working with him on sit and down (he is only approx. 8 weeks. Teri is working these behaviors with him to be a good example! :-) For more pics, videos and updates on Ludwig's progress, connect with us on Facebook at: facebook.com/melsmenagerie.

  • Awsome! But if he is deaf why do you speak to him? Well I guess it is our habbit to speak to dogs :P

Do you think he can learn lip movement like he would learn hand singals?

  • @VasPeLeK :-) Yes, I note that in my description, I do still talk to him a lot, even though he can't hear me! But I suppose when I talk to him, I'm still sending some type of energy message to him, so it's OK. :-) I suppose a deaf dog could learn to read lip movements, but unfortunately, his eyesight isn't very good and I don't think he could see that small of movement.
