No idea what anyone is saying in this, but it's very well made and genuinely haunting. In fact I don't know why they aren't doing this in the mainstream campaign.

Obviously a Fire Kills PIF aimed at the Asian community, in Urdu, except, oddly enough, for the slogan, which for some reason is in English. There are actually two of those, identical except for the players. This one's in Urdu; the other one is in Sylethi, so presumably aimed at Bangladeshi immigrants; she's wearing a headscarf. She's also overacting a bit, or maybe not given that I have no idea what she's saying. In fact for all I know she could be underplaying the sheer horror of her words. Anyway I prefer the subdued despair of this one.

Apparently there is no Urdu equivalent of "smoke alarm". Or "batteries". It's a bit like watching S4C.

edit: woah, this is wide, what's going on there?

  • At around 0:39 she looks like Michael Jackson after being left out in the sun for too long.

  • This one's in Urdu; the other one is aimed at Bangladeshi immigrants, so she's wearing a headscarf.

Its generally the opposite way around

  • ...is quite possibly the funniest thing I've heard this week.

  • I agree, this does have a touch of S4C, which for some reason scares me everytime I accidentially flip past it on Sky. I have no idea why.

I find this quite effective - remember that "You're A Slick Little Girl" fireworks PIF you uploaded a little while back? I think that this is almost exactly the sort of effect they were failing to achieve.

  • I know that in some Asian communities, kitchen fires were the standard euphemism for the victim of an "honour killing" over dowry disputes.

I definitely agree we should have an English-language version of this.
