  • So, does the space within the atom itself expanding with the universe? May be who knows I am sure it does, but the expansion of space within an Atom would be so small that it can not be measured accurately. However, if you gradually introduce Atom into a Black Hole than the Atom will tear apart and convert into energy because of the distortion of space itself. First the distance between electron and proton will increase to the point where electron will leave the Atom altogether and so on.

  • The dot on the balloon itself also expanded but you cant tell compare to the overall expansion of balloon. You see, moon appears to be drifting away from the earth few centimeters every year but actually it is going nowhere it is the space between the earth and the moon is gradually expanding proportional to the over all expansion. Moon is at the same point in space from earth where it always been. Keep in mind that the matter doesnt expand only the space expands.

  • I dont think I agree with you doc, let me explain. What is space? To put it in crude form, space is the absence of mater between two points. And yes, all space is expanding even our own galaxy itself is expanding with it but we can not notice it because the space between earth and the sun for example is very small compare to the distance between galaxies. In other words the greater the space between two points the larger the expansion.
