Forgive me if I am mistaken, but Phil Cunningham plays a Cittern, not a bouzouki, which accounts for the larger sound box and more strings.

It must be - I know he often plays on these sessions. I called him nameless because his name is not listed. He would be playing bouzouki although on that video you can't see the full length of the neck. Phil Cunningham also plays a bouzouki on the Transatlantic Sessions, but he plays right handed and it is a very different instrument1 with a much larger sound box.
