This was recorded at the Apple Corps offices in London.
The woman who conducted the interview was a journalist from the New York Times. She took a lot of heat for this interview. She later committed suicide after being diagnosed with Parkinson's which affected her ability to write. Her name was Gloria Emerson. Basically claiming that he (John) does not have that big of an impact on the protest movement because all he does is write songs which don't really accomplish anything. John gets angry because this is obviously not true which is why he gets so defensive about it. Because his songs were working with the protest movement and elsewhere, but the interviewer had her blinders on to the max.

  • I'm a huge Lennon fan and have read several of his biographies. It is clear that Lennon was angry his entire life. He never found a true "comfort zone" - even with Yoko. It is not uncommon for people like this to possess incredible innate artistic talent. That stuff came naturally to him. He was never truly content with his life. Kind of sad considering his huge musical contributions to our culture.

  • John, more than any of the others, put up with too much bullshit from people who had no talent and no intelligence. In fact I doubt if any of them were even self aware. I play the part of Lennon which you can see here under the title Beatles 101 Hard Rock Cafe.John Lennon was an individual. Some of you may know what that means.

  • @Cindybug57 They were talking about "Give Peace A Chance"

  • "I will make it jolly!" is such a funny thing to hear in an angry voice. Good on John for speaking his mind though.

  • I was a member of the anti-war movement back then. People like John and Yoko, Jerry Rubin, Abbie Hoffman, Timothy Leary etc. were an embarrassment to the movement by their antics and actions. It wasn't till middle class America (who were turned off by their actions) demanded our boys come home did the president start to lower troop levels.

  • right on john put the bitch in her place.

  • John backs down to no one.

  • @Cindybug57 that's what I was wondering

maybe "Happy Xmas (War is Over)"

  • fuckin love his edgyness! its so hot!

  • What song are they talking about in this video ???

  • @jddmr22181, John found his happy zone the year he died.....that's the tragedy.

He chartered a sailboat from Rhode Island and sailed to Bermuda with his son Sean, and found it a life changing experience , and wrote the album Double Fantasy.
