Perfect 9/11 song, beautifully sung. Tynan was the perfect choice to close out the 9/11 Memorial Benefit Concert at New York City's Town Hall. He said, "Over the Rainbow" and, of course, "God Bless America," among others.
I called to him from the front row: "We love you, Ronan."
He looked at me and smiled. "I'm glad somebody here does."
The Yankees cancelled Tynan's appearance at the 2009 American League Championship series after he made an off-handed remark about two Jewish women who'd come to look at his apartment. The ADL said his apology was more than enough, given all the good work he's done.
New York welcomed him warmly tonight.... and he didn't disappoint. For the full story, and more videos, go to CLIFFVIEWPILOT.COM's coverage: "9/11 Memorial Concert: Bergen, NJSP bands rock, Tynan returns."
As a member of the British Police contingent who were privileged to be over in NYC for 9/11 I am proud to say I was at the 10th Memorial Concert.
Well done to all the guys and girls who played and sang so well.
May all the souls who were killed on that terrible day 10 years ago rest in peace.
