Hollyhocks can grown in almost any climate as long as they are provided with water, sun and composted soil. Because they can multiply easily, only grow hollyhocks in containers, or be sure to cut them down before they produce seeds, using tips from a sustainable gardener in this free video on gardening.

I bought holly hocks at the nursery and everyone is white. I like the black and peach color ones and I wanted to predominately end up with the two colors I like most.

I have tried planting hollyhocks but they only grow to be about 1-2 feet tall, don't bloom and then don't come back the next year. I live in sandy soil on the border of zone 3 and 4. I plant them in a sunny spot...what could I be doing wrong?

LOVE Hollyhocks. They are so huge and beautiful. Have put them everywhere I have lived, there are so many people out there enjoying MY hollyhocks! But, I have some where I am at, now too.
