Tough to Teach: Slavery in America

Loredana Wicketts has multiple objectives in her 4th grade history lesson about Harriet Tubman. Warming up with the necessary vocabulary on the subject, she also manages to cover figurative language, social studies, Black History Month, and determining the big idea. Students are engaged throughout, and by the end of class, ready for independent informational reading.

Is there any literature on how Africa was affected by the slave trade pertaining to that time? I think that would be interesting to know.
