Mack the Knife - Gainesville Big Band - Dave Bass - Bari Sax

In 2005 I played on singer Dejie Johnson's album. One of the tunes called for bari sax, and since I didn't have one I rented one for the session.

I fell in love with the sound so much, I had to have one! I mean, what ELSE makes a sound like this?? It's rockin'!

I love kicking bari around, especially in a horn section. It's marvelous to be on the bottom end of the sound, layin' back slightly behind the beat under all those horns. Move over, Lisa Simpson!

I play the alto sax in the marching band at my school and the bari in the jazz band. the first time i played it the director told me to go and get it for practice one day. the first thing we played was a blues warm up song and the director and the bari player from the past two years told me i had a better sound the first time i played than both of them by the end of the year.
